On February 8th 2014 Ladies of the Turkish Cultural Center organized a Henna Night. This event was a special night for Ladies only. A presentation about the traditional Henna Night ceremony was explained to guests. Young volunteers of the Turkish Cultural Center demonstrated traditional dancing throughout the night. Over twenty different dishes were offered for guest to sample. Dishes included: baklava, cheese pastry, bulgur salad, lima bean salad, semolina desert with berries, stuffed grape leaves, and much more. To burn off the calories, guests were invited to dance along with volunteers throughout the night. Ladies also had the option of having various designs of henna painted on their hands.
Of the many kind thank you emails that were received, below is one that we wanted to share:
“Please tell all the ladies what a wonderful evening it was. I was thoroughly pleased. As I told you, I really enjoy coming because everyone is so welcoming. Of course, the food was delicious but the camaraderie, laughing and dancing really told the tale. Women know how to have fun with other women!!! Thanks a lot. Looking forward to seeing you at your next event.” (D. R.)
