The Sixth Annual Turkic Day organized by Turkish Cultural Center Connecticut (TCCC) and Council of Turkic American Associations (CTAA) took place in Connecticut State Capitol on Tuesday, April 19th, 2016 with a great participation.
The reception was opened with US and Turkey’s national anthems and followed by the remarks. Omer Faruk Kizilcik, president of the TCC Connecticut delivered his welcome speech and extended his appreciation to the state capitol and organizing committee for making the event happen.
House Majority Leader Joe Aresimowicz and House Republican Leader Rep. Themis Klarides delivered their remarks on behalf of the Host Committee. Attorney General George Jepson contributed to the acknowledgment of the Turkish Community and Deputy Speaker Kevin Ryan recognized the Turkish Cultural members.
TCCC served several dishes from authentic Turkish cuisine to the guests. The program also included a Turkish art exhibition, live Ebru-art, which is water marbling and Turkish Calligraphy demonstrations.
The program was hosted by the Connecticut legislators: Majority Leader Rep. Joe Aresimowicz, House Republican Leader Rep. Themis Klarides, Deputy Speaker Rep. Kevin Ryan, Deputy Speaker Rep. Peggy Sayers, Assistant Deputy Speaker Rep. Lou Esposito, Deputy Majority Leader Sen. Andrew Maynard, Deputy Majority Leader Rep. Russell Morin, Deputy Majority Leader Rep. Juan Candelaria, State Rep. Kim Rose, and State Rep. Kelly Luxenberg.
