On November 20th, 2011 an interfaith community came together at the “Interfaith Thanksgiving Service” hosted by the First and Wesley Methodist Church in West Haven. The service was organized by the West Haven clergy Association and the Turkish Cultural Center Connecticut. The service began with a Muslim call to prayer and continued with hymns and readings from the holy books.
Reverend Rhonda R. Taylor, of First and Wesley Methodist Church, welcomed all the guests to the Interfaith Thanksgiving Service. Jim D’Addio from the First Baptist Church of West Haven led the Prayer of Invocation. The Reverend Dr. Lisa Hahneman of the Church of Holy Spirit in West Haven delivered the Thanskgiving Reflections after the hymns by the interchurch choir. Rev. Hahneman stressed that people of faith are required to express thanks to the Lord for all that is given to them. A free will offering was collected for the Project Hope after Phil Krakowiak, the Minister of First Lutheran Church, gave a little bit of information. Project Hope is a volunteer driven community aid project which helps homeless and poor people by providing food and clothing.
